SMPL has its administrative and laboratory facilities in Enugu, South East Nigeria. It is located at the department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Nigeria. It offers a wide ranges of services including Molecular Diagnostics, Environmental Diagnostics, Food & Drink Products testing, Point-Of-Care testing, African Medicinal Plant Research, Medical Devices , Safety and Risk Management.

The nearest Airport to SMPL is the Enugu International Airport, which is about 30 minutes car drive from the campus. Enugu city, popularly known as Coal city, is an hour flight from Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. It has a rich road network to all regions of the country.  The Enugu Airport is also an hour flight from Lagos, the largest city in Nigeria. The University location offers a warm and friendly atmosphere for staff, clients, visitors and collaborators. There is a guest house on the campus and many nice hotels around the campus.

The SMPL is accredited by the Medical laboratory Sciences and Technology council of Nigeria, the body responsible for regulation of medical laboratory sciences’ practice in Nigeria.

The SMPL is highly innovative and employs very capable and well trained staff. The laboratory uses solar energy to provide its electricity, demonstrating its commitment to ‘doing it safely’: which ensures use of safe, ethical and environmental friendly systems.
